We trust that you and your family are staying healthy in these unusual times. We want to bring you up to date on our plans to reopen Concourse Dental Group.
Dental offices are now permitted to reopen, provided they have all the required safety equipment. Your safety is paramount to us. Due to this, Concourse Dental Group will reopen only when we have all the necessary equipment. As you can imagine it is very difficult to obtain Personal Protective Equipment such as masks. We are making every effort to obtain all the PPE we need to practice dentistry safely as soon as possible. We are also making physical changes to the office. We will arrange appointments for you once we know for certain when we can reopen.
Until then we have options in place to handle urgent dental problems and provide you with the guidance and advice you need to deal with any dental concerns you might have. Please call the office and leave a voice message if you have a dental emergency. Many of you have left phone messages, which we appreciate. We monitor the answering system frequently and will respond to you as soon as possible. For immediate care please call the Dental Emergency Centre at 416 485 7121.
Our infection prevention policies and procedures have always met and often exceeded the profession’s standards. Rest assured that they will continue to do so when we open. Indeed, we are implementing all new guidelines before we return to work so that you can be confident that we are able to provide the safest dental care possible to you and your family. These new safety policies include:
We will begin offering appointments as soon as we have all the necessary PPE and we have completed any necessary changes to our office. The first appointments will be given to those of you who have urgent concerns. Everyone will be pre-screened for symptoms of COVID-19 at the time appointments are made, when the appointment is confirmed, and on the day of the appointment. Patient visits will be spaced to permit thorough cleaning of the operatory room and equipment before your appointment begins.
Screening Upon Arrival
Please call the office when you arrive at the Thompson Building and one of our team will meet you at the door.
Everyone, including each staff member, will be screened prior to entering the clinic. This will include completion of a questionnaire and measurement of their temperature. We might not be able to see patients who screen positive or who have an elevated temperature. We will also ask you to sanitise your hands and put on your mask. Please bring your own mask.
Cleanliness and Sterilisation
These have been critically important to us since we opened over thirty years ago. To our existing procedures we will more frequently clean door handles, chairs, and other “high touch” surfaces. As before our office will be one of the cleanest environments you will encounter.
At your first visit you will see us wearing more protective gear, such as masks, face shields, or gowns, than we have in the past.
We will limit the number of patients in the office at any one time. Patients will be guided through the office in a way that prevents close contact with others.
We know how difficult the past few months have been for everyone. We share your frustrations at the unavoidable interruptions to our lives and appreciate your understanding while all of us adapt to the new reality. We very much look forward to seeing you again as soon as it is possible to do so safely.
We would like to thank all of you very much for your patience and understanding during these unusual times. We wish you all the very best of health and look forward to seeing you again soon.
Dr Samira Jaffer and the Concourse Dental Group team
On March 15, 2020 the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario directed that "all non-essential and elective (dental) services should be suspended immediately". Please call the office and leave a voice message if you have a dental emergency . We monitor the answering system and can advise you how emergencies can be managed. For immediate care please call the Dental Emergency Centre at 416 485 7121.
The College defines emergencies as oral-facial trauma, significant infection, prolonged bleeding, or pain which cannot be managed by over-the-counter medications. If you require treatment of one of these emergencies we will refer you to a clinic that has COVID-19 precautions in place.
We are in the process of enhancing our already strict infection prevention equipment, procedures, and policies. We will notify you when this is complete. We look forward to seeing you again as soon as we can do so safely and with open arms.
We would like to thank all of you for your patience and perseverance during these unusual times. We wish you all the very best of health and look forward to seeing you again soon.

"I enjoy dentistry as much for the long-term relationships I build with my patients as for the opportunity to make a positive impact on their health and appearance. I truly enjoy the work that I do and welcome the challenges that it brings. This is reflected by the professional atmosphere in our office and my team's willingness to make the most of your visits" Dr. Samira Jaffer
